India-UK trade pact comes into effect, cutting tariffs and boosting services trade

The India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) came into force on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, granting zero-duty access to nearly 99% of India's exports to the UK.

First export consignments, including $10 million in jewelry and Rs 28 crore in goods, were flagged off from Hyderabad and Kolkata immediately after the pact's activation.

This landmark deal expands market access for 137 service sub-sectors and reduces tariffs on 90% of tariff lines, marking a significant shift in Indo-British economic relations.
