ISRO completes first ground test of new SOLVE test platform for Gaganyaan

ISRO successfully conducted the first ground test of its SOLVE solid motor for the Sub-Orbital Launch Vehicle in New Delhi to support the Gaganyaan human spaceflight programme.

This test validates critical systems needed for future crewed missions, marking a key step toward India's goal of launching astronauts into orbit.

  • India previously launched the Chandrayan-3 mission in 2023, successfully landing near the Moon's south pole.
  • The four astronauts selected for Gaganyaan underwent training at ISRO's astronaut facility in Bangalore.
  • ISRO has launched over 120 satellites for foreign countries since the 1980s.
